Upcycle your clothes using the magic of eco-printing with plants. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll create beautiful, nature-made patterns with leaves, flowers, and seeds while learning the basics of this amazing natural dyeing technique. Participants are asked to bring one light-coloured item, preferably white, made of cotton, linen, or rayon. The fabric must be washed. Have a lot of fun imprinting a cotton tote bag with leaves, flowers and seeds! Tatakizome translates to dyeing with hammers, but we can use any simple tool, such as a spoon or pebbles, to press the plants onto fabric. Read more.

In this workshop, you will hand-dye a one-of-a-kind organic cotton bandana using a special technique to create patterns: the stitched shibori. Shibori is a group of manual resist dyeing techniques from Japan, and the stitched one allows us to create beautiful and delicate patterns. The stitched-shibori bandana will naturally dye with plants such as turmeric or madder. All material provided.
